Stephen Jeffries(Discussion Leader) began his career at Brown University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, with the highest honors in his major. While at Brown he was elected to the national honor society Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Jeffries attended Cornell University on a Ford Foundation Scholarship, where he earned a M.Phil from the Sage School of Philosophy in 1971. Upon graduating from Cornell University, Mr. Jeffries spent four years lecturing logic and philosophy to students at Louisiana State University. Mr. Jeffries earned a Juris Doctorate degree in 1979 from New York University Law School, one of the top five law schools in the U.S. Mr. Jeffries has benefited numerous professionals and businesspeople wishing to immigrate to the United States since establishing Stephen Jeffries and Associates in 1980. Throughout the past twenty-five years, Stephen Jeffries and Associates has cultivated a unique base of knowledge that renders the firm a leader in the practice of professional and businesspeople immigration law. Robert Aronson is the Managing Attorney of Aronson & Associates. Roberta Freedman is a member in Clark Hill’s Washington, D.C. office, who co-chairs the Immigration Practice Group and concentrates her practice in the area of immigration and nationality law. Roberta has more than 29 years of experience in representing clients, including business professionals physicians, healthcare provid¬ers, outstanding professors and researchers, and Fortune 500 corporations. She has been selected by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) to lead high-profile joint CIS-private sector projects. Roberta is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and is the past Chair of the Washington, D.C. Chapter and past Director of the Board of Governors and has been appointed to serve and chair on a number of AILA national committees. She is a former member of the Coordinating Committee on Immigration Law of the American Bar Association (ABA).

Wendy Hess is a founder and partner of the Firm. With over 30 years of experience in immigration law, Wendy represents some of our nation's finest universities, medical centers, research institutions and private employers, as well as the Mexican Consulate in Philadelphia. In addition, Wendy handles some of the Firm’s most complex family-based matters as well as the establishment of EB-5 Regional Centers and individual investor petitions. She currently serves as Chair of the Immigration Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association, as Vice Co-Chair of the Immigration Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, as President of HIAS Pennsylvania (an organization dedicated to assisting immigrants and refugees), as Co-Chair of the USCIS/ AILA Liaison Committee of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and as a member of the AILA Board of Publications Committee. Wendy is listed in The International Who’s Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers as one of the best business immigration attorneys internationally ( She is also listed as one of the best immigration attorneys in the United States (, and has been listed as one of the best immigration attorneys in Pennsylvania ( Wendy is a frequent local and national speaker on employment and family-based immigration as well as on advocacy issues. She is a recipient of the HIAS PennDOT Advocacy Award. Wendy is fluent in Spanish and conversant in French.

Jan Pederson has been the nation’s leading advocate for immigration for foreign medical graduates for more than twenty-five years. She has been instrumental in persuading government agencies to implement J-1 physician waiver programs and has been active in seeking legislative benefits for J-1 and H-1B physicians. She has met with members of Congress and officials at The White House seeking positive solutions to physician immigration issues. She is the founder and publisher of J-1 Physician News and has been the key speaker at forty-five physician immigration conferences. Her practice concentrates in representation of foreign physicians, hospitals and other health care providers. She has been named a SuperLawyer for many years and has been recognized as a top immigration lawyer in Washington, DC by The Washington Post, The Legal Times and Chambers USA.
