Improving Readability

Are you receiving your Immigration Daily email version garbled and with no line breaks, making it difficult to read? This is due to an automatic feature found in Microsoft's Outlook 2003. To view Immigration Daily in its original intended format, do the following:

  1. Go to the Microsoft Outlook Tools tab
  2. Select Options tab
  3. Select Preferences
  4. Select Email options
  5. Uncheck "remove extra line breaks in plain text messages"
Taking this step will ensure better readability for Immigration Daily and other plain text emails. If you have Microsoft Vista, you may have to follow similiar steps.

Dear Editor:
Mr. Roth's article on Guangzhou U.S. Consulate (06/23/09 ID) is very interesting and informative. I have seen unreasonable requests from that consulate all the time such as proving the familial relationship between the I-864 joint sponsor with the beneficiary on family based cases ; requiring I-864 from the principal beneficiaries for employment-based cases when it is not required; video typing the beneficiary's hands making dishes when the sponsored position is a chef. In addition, the waiting time is extremely long even when the visa numbers are current. With visa numbers moved back and forth in EB-3s in past years, my clients have been waiting for years when they could have immigrated to the U.S. if the consulate processed my clients' cases with a reasonable time. Also, rumors of bribery to the consular workers in order to get cases move forward are circulating for years.

Sufen Hilf, Esq.
Franklin, MI
