WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This event will be beneficial to anyone involved in EB-5. The event day will bring together experts and practitioners on all sides of the EB-5 equation. After each panel, guests will have the opportunity to discuss EB-5 issues among themselves and with speakers. This is a CLE workshop, however it is designed to be materially useful to Regional Center executives and real estate developers also, in addition to immigration attorneys.

                            ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

                            Parisa Karaahmet (DL) is a partner at Fragomen and leads a team specializing in individual, complex and corporate immigration matters. She has presented at Pace University’s Judicial Institute, guest lectured at Cardozo Law School, and speaks at national conferences. She chairs Practicing Law Institute’s annual conference “Defending Removal Proceedings” and co-chairs the American Bar Association Immigration Litigation Committee. Parisa previously served as an Assistant District Counsel and Acting Deputy District Counsel for the Immigration and Naturalization Service, New York District Office. Her areas of specialty include advising clients with respect to criminal and other inadmissibility grounds, employer sanctions, EB-5, E-verify and I-9 compliance. On the corporate compliance advisory group side, Parisa represents a variety of large, mid-size and smaller companies in their immigration matters, including those in the financial services, medical, pharmaceutical, education and technology sectors.

                            Chad Ellsworth joined Fragomen as an Associate in 2002 from Tulane Law School cum laude. While at Tulane, he served as Associate Executive Editor for The Tulane Journal of International and Comparative Law. His practice focuses on the representation of individual and business clients on a wide variety of corporate immigration and related employment matters. Chad has advised human resource personnel, managers, executives and professionals and multinational corporations on a variety of global immigration matters with an emphasis on the establishment and/or improvement of immigration compliant global mobility programs including jurisdictions with less formalized immigration processes and procedures. Chad also advises many high net worth individuals in their immigration related investments. As Chinese citizens are the largest users of the U.S. EB-5 Investor Category, he regularly liaises with Chinese and other foreign investors to address their immigration needs. He is a member of the firm’s Corporate Compliance and Private Client Practice Groups and a regular speaker at national and international immigration conferences including the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Council for Global Immigration (formerly ACIP), the China-US Business Alliance, EB-5 Investors, the Invest in America Shanghai Summit and Exhibition, and Immigration Lawyers on the Web (ILW). He is also the author of immigration related articles.

                            Enrique Gonzalez is the Managing Partner of Fragomen’s Florida office. Enrique’s practice is broad based and includes counseling companies, institutions and individuals. He has significant experience related to managing the immigration compliance programs for companies and institutions engaged in a wide range of activities/industries including: agriculture, education/research, energy, entertainment, food service, healthcare, hospitality and technology. He also provides legal counsel to entrepreneurs and high net-worth individuals regarding investment based immigration (including the EB-5 Program). From January to August 2013, Enrique served as Special Counsel on Immigration to U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) where he was the Senator’s principal advisor/negotiator on the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act (S. 744) that was approved by the U.S. Senate on June 27, 2013. Enrique’s immigration reform work with Senator Rubio has been the topic of multiple articles throughout a number of publications, including The New Yorker, Bloomberg Businessweek, the Miami Herald, The New York Times, Politico and The Washington Post. He also served as the Vice Mayor/Commissioner of the City of West Miami from 1994 to 2001. Enrique has lectured nationally, regionally and locally on immigration matters to various groups. Enrique Speaks English and Spanish.

                            Matt Gordon is the Chief Executive Officer at E3iG and Chairman of E3 Cargo. Mr. Gordon's career spans business operations, finance and law. Mr. Gordon is a noted expert in the EB-5 field and is an authority on structuring EB-5 investments. He is the editor of the EB-5 Book, the legal treatise on the EB-5 program and a frequent lecturer to immigration attorneys. Mr. Gordon has participated in policy events, including those hosted by the White House and Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. Prior to founding E3 Investment Group, Mr. Gordon was an investment banker for a decade and ran the US division of a Swiss multi-national corporation. Mr. Gordon is a licensed attorney, having practiced mergers and acquisitions law at the beginning of his career with the largest and most reputable Wall Street firms including Fried Frank and Sullivan & Cromwell. Mr. Gordon received his B.S. in Policy Analysis from Cornell University and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. Mr. Gordon holds FINRA/SEC securities licenses and is associated with a registered broker-dealer.

                            William ("Bill") Gresser is the President and founder of EB-5 New York State, LLC. The Company was formed in 2007 and was designated as an EB-5 Regional Center by the US Citizenship & Immigration Services in 2009. EB-5 New York State has successfully completed several job-creating EB-5 projects - from inception through the I-526 and I-829 petition approval process. In addition, Mr. Gresser manages a regional center outside of New York and is actively engaged in EB-5 projects throughout the US. Mr. Gresser is a member of the Board of Directors of the Invest in USA (IIUSA) industry association and is a regular speaker on the EB-5 program. Mr. Gresser has a Bachelor of Arts, MBA and JD degrees from Georgetown University.

                            Daniel B. Lundy is a Partner at the Philadelphia Office of Klasko Immigration Law Partners, LLP. He is also a member of the Firm's EB-5 Team. Mr. Lundy has successfully represented numerous immigrant investors in their EB-5 petitions and applications, including investors seeking permanent residence through investment in their own businesses and investors seeking permanent residence through investments into USCIS approved Regional Centers. Mr. Lundy also represents developers and others who seek to use foreign investment funds under the EB-5 program to fund their projects, either through the formation of a Regional Center or by joining with an existing Regional Center. Mr. Lundy works with various securities lawyers, economists, business plan writers and other professionals in the preparation and filing of Regional Center designation and Regional Center amendment applications. Mr. Lundy is experienced in reviewing Regional Center and project business plans, economic reports, securities offering documents, and corporate documents for compliance with the EB-5 program requirements, and in consulting and advising clients on the specific immigration requirements of the EB-5 program. Mr. Lundy is admitted to the bar in the State of New York, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Seventh and Eleventh Circuits, and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Mr. Lundy is a graduate of Hunter College (B.A., 2000) and Fordham University School of Law (J.D. 2006). He is a member of the New York County Lawyer's Association and American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).

                            Dawn M. Lurie is a shareholder at Polsinelli, PC. She is recognized in the legal community as a sophisticated and forward thinking immigration compliance authority and EB-5 investment strategist. She focuses on visa and compliance issues. Dawn is proud to be considered a trusted partner to corporate clients and is relied on for her ability to spot impending government enforcement trends. She has represented clients in the EB-5 program since the early years of the program's inception, in the 1990s. Her experience has evolved over the last two decades as the EB-5 program progressed from an obscure means of obtaining U.S. residency, to a viable mechanism of funding a significant portion of the capital stack for large-scale projects and infrastructure building across industries. Attending EB-5 Board hearings in D.C., participating in the stakeholder conversation process with the USCIS and advocating for EB-5 immigration reform, provides her clients with a unique Washington perspective. Dawn serves on the EB-5 trade association's (IIUSA) Best Practices Committee and is a past Chair of the DC Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).

                            Kristen W. Ng focuses her practice on business immigration and compliance matters. She advises individuals and companies on a wide range of immigration matters, including nonimmigrant and immigrant employment-based cases, citizenship issues (acquisition, retention and relinquishment) and investor cases (E-2 and EB-5). She communicates directly with clients, including HR managers, high-level executives, and employees to ensure comprehension of each respective immigration process and procedure and to collaboratively produce the best immigration strategy and approach for each individual matter.

                            John Roth is Managing Attorney at the Roth Immigration Law Firm. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association. In addition to being an immigration attorney, he has an extensive business background, including an M.B.A. For the Wharton School of Finance, a Series 7 and a Series 63 license, and he is a registered representative of a Broker-Dealer firm. His firm, EB-5 Analytics, provides due diligence analyses of EB-5 regional center projects for EB-5 Pilot Program immigrant investors.

                            Reid Thomas is the Executive Vice President at NES Financial, leading the company's sales and marketing organization. He brings over 20 years of executive management experience at both private and public companies, including Laszlo Systems, Octel Communications, and VINA Technologies.                             Gregory White is a Partner in the firm’s Corporate Practice Group. Mr. White’s practice focuses on the representation of corporations, private equity funds, venture capital firms, and corporations in financing, technology and M&A transactions.A substantial portion of Greg’s practice includes high-tech and emerging growth companies in a number of industries, including software, telecommunications, data storage, mobile technology, medical technology and e-commerce. In addition to representing such companies in fundraising transactions, Greg’s work for these clients includes representation in connection with corporate partnering, joint ventures and strategic alliances, as well as licensing, marketing, distribution, service, support, outsourcing, and other agreements.Mr. White has an extensive practice assisting venture capital and private equity funds in the capital formation and investment process and in connection with M&A transactions. Mr. White is a frequent lecturer on various aspects of venture capital transactions and has authored articles and legal education publications on private equity transactions. Mr. White also serves, on behalf of the firm, in the capacity of general outside corporate legal counsel to a number of the firm’s clients and in such capacity advises the boards of directors of firm clients on corporate governance issues and the fiduciary principles applicable to board oversight, including consideration of disclosure issues, major transactions, legal disputes and other similar matters.
