Economic Impact Of Undocumented

The Texas comptroller has issued a report on the impact of undocumented immigrants on the state budget and economy that concludes "The Comptrollerís office estimates the absence of the estimated 1.4 million undocumented immigrants in Texas in fiscal 2005 would have been a loss to our Gross State Product of $17.7 billion. Also, the Comptrollerís office estimates that state revenues collected from undocumented immigrants exceed what the state spent on services, with the difference being $424.7 million"

Dear Weekly Editor:
From the response to some recent letters to the editor I can only think that many of your readers condone illegal entry into the United States. Do they realize that they may be aiding and abetting a criminal when they are aware of and overlook their illegal status?

Dear Weekly Editor:
I can provide the place to stay for a Brasilian guestworker if the job is near Orlando or Longwood, FL. Is that a possibility or do they have to be Mexican? Is the program flexible enough for that kind of sponsorship or do they require proof of a large bank account on the part of the sponsor like they do with the sponsor for a student visa? Can it application be done in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he is working now?

Dear Weekly Editor:
To our Maryland Political Leaders. Please stop forcing Maryland to be a magnet for illegal immigrants by giving them drivers license. You are endangering our community ! Give Marylanders the gift of life and safety. Please comply with the 2005 Real ID Act. It would be nice to sponcer a bill/law called the Mathew-Bower bill, which would put Maryland in compliance with the Real ID act with out any back door ID cards or drivers permits for illegal immigrants. The name would honor the two American / Maryland citizens who were killed by a illegal immigrant this Thanks Giving. Please comply with the 2005 Real ID Act so no more Marylanders are killed like our young Marine killed on Thanksgiving which is not an Isolated case.
