Erratum
For affidavit of support purposes, the 2006 Poverty Guidelines become effective March 1, 2006. IW's 2/22/06 issue incorrected stated the 2006 Poverty Guidelines become effective April 1, 2006 - the error has been corrected. We thank Jonathan Mills of DHS for bringing this to our attention.

Dear Editor:
Immigrant's Weekly 02/27/06 IW comment entitled, "3 Immigrants Share In $365M Jackpot" interesting, isn't it? The eight winners, five of whom are apparently Americans and 3 of whom are legal immigrants/refugees, are all working in a meat packing plant. Yet, we're told that meat packing is one of those jobs "Americans just won't do" and that the industry needs to use illegal alien labor for that reason. Well, I'm sure eight jobs for illegal aliens just opened up, but it's nice to see legal immigrants and citizens getting the breaks.
