ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Robert Loughran (Discussion Leader) is a partner in the Austin office of FosterQuan, LLP. He is Board Certified-Immigration and Nationality Law, Texas Board of Legal
Specialization. Mr. Loughran is appointed to the Texas Board of Legal Specialization Standards and Fitness Committee, 2008-Present. Mr. Loughran
was American Immigration Lawyers Association Liaison to Vermont Service Center of Department of Homeland Security for H-1B issues, 2006-2008.
He has been vice chair in the State Bar of Texas Committee on Laws Relating to Immigration and Nationality, 2005-Present.
Avalyn Langemeier is a partner at FosterQuan, LLP. She's fluent in Spanish and English. She assists employers, including companies, universities, and hospitals, as well as physicians, nurses, researchers and professors, executives, teachers, and other professionals in obtaining work visas and permanent residence. Advises employers and human resource professionals on worksite enforcement and conducts I-9 audits and training workshops.
Magali Candler is a partner at FosterQuan, LLP. She is the Head of Litigation at FosterQuan and is the past Chair of the Texas/Oklahoma/ New Mexico Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Ms. Candler was also co-counsel on a recent win at the Supreme Court, Umer v. Holder (2012). She is fluent in Spanish and English and has been included in The Best Lawyers in America for four consecutive years and counting.
Charles Kuck is the Managing Partner of Kuck Immigration Partners LLC-The Immigration Law Firm, and oversees its nationwide immigration practice. His practice focuses on U.S. Immigration and Nationality Law and international migration matters. Mr. Kuck assists employers and employees with business and professional visas, labor certifications, immigrant visas, consular representation, and citizenship matters. Mr. Kuck also maintains an active Federal Court practice focusing on immigration issues. He has represented asylum seekers in more than 400 trials before the Immigration Courts. Mr. Kuck also advises employers on compliance procedures in verifying the work eligibility of all new employees as required under the I-9 employer sanctions provisions of the Federal Law and is a leader in training and compliance with programs on the E-Verify and IMAGE. His clients include technology firms, manufacturers, multinational corporations, individual investors and entrepreneurs, as well as families, individual immigrants and asylum seekers.
John Lasseigne is an Attorney with FosterQuan, LLP. He graduated summa cum laude from Johns Hopkins University and earned his J.D. from Loyola University of New Orleans Law School where he served on law review and moot court. After practicing law, he heeded a call of a different sort and spent the next two decades serving in church ministry to Hispanic communities in Texas and California. During his years in ministry, he also advocated for legislative reform in the areas of immigration, health care, and education to benefit his mostly immigrant parishioners. In 2010, he returned to the full-time practice of law and joined FosterQuan in 2012 where his practice focuses on defending clients in immigration court, including with complex criminal and fraud issues. Mr. Lasseigne speaks English and Spanish. He is a licensed lawyer in Texas, Louisiana, and California.
Jose Perez is a partner at FosterQuan, LLP. He is actively involved with immigration issues relating to health care professionals, employment and Family based immigration, and consular issues. Mr. Perez is fluent in Spanish and English and is a frequent speaker on immigration and consular matters at the National Immigration Lawyers' Conference, foreign student advisors' conferences and healthcare associations. Serving on the regional industry advisory board of "Advance for Nurses" periodical, Mr. Perez is also a featured writer on immigration related issues for this publication.
Gordon Quan is Co-Chairman at FosterQuan, LLP. Graguating from the South Texas Co0llege of Law in 1977, Mr. Quan has received many honors during his practice including beig listed in Best Lawyers in America, Who's Who in American Law, Texas Super Lawyers, and the Martindale-Hubbell's "AV Rating". Mr. Quan is also Chair of the Texas Chapter of AILA and and is on the Advisory board of the Center for Immigration Research of the University of Houston. Additionally, he is the former President of the Asian Pacific American Municipal Officials for the National League of Cities.
J.J. Slater is a Senior Attorney with FosterQuan, LLP. Mr. Slater graduated cum laude from the University of Houston and received his law degree from South Texas College of Law. Prior to joining FosterQuan, LLP, Mr. Slater was a U.S. Congressional aide and caseworker for the Honorable Ken Bentsen and the Honorable Chris Bell, both representing Texas' 25th Congressional District in Houston. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the State Bar of Texas, and is Board Certified in Immigration and Nationality Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Slater's practice is concentrated in the areas of family-based immigration, citizenship & naturalization and employment-based immigration.
