Perhaps Ms. Jacobs's letter seems to have missed the point of Mr. Krikorian's opinion piece on the folly of the visa lottery. In fact, he did not say, as Ms. Jacobs claims that, "The lottery is bad because it's bringing in brown and black
people, who are apparently not only corrupt but also likely to be terrorists due to their religion.", although he did correctly touch on those points, and that may be a fair assessment in our troubled times. The point Mr. Kirkorian aptly made is that the Diversity Lottery has outlived its usefulness. The US simply doesn't need it. We should get on with meaningful immigration reform, rather than reforming meaningless programs.
