Dear Editor:
The following press release was released by the The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).

AILA, its members and coalition partners announced today the launch of a year-long nationwide campaign to highlight the benefits of immigration and immigration reform. At a Capitol Hill press conference, Immigration Works! It's Who We Are was unveiled to celebrate America as a nation of immigrants and to underscore that immigration, along with sensible immigration reform, will continue to enhance this nation's security and sustain its economy during this difficult time. Immigration Works! It's Who We Are provides AILA's members, coalition partners and supporters with the resources and tips they need to work within their communities to create positive attitudes toward immigration in the post-9/11 environment and help them craft this nation's immigration laws and policies. The campaign will aid immigration supporters in their efforts to combat opponents that scapegoat and malign immigrants. "For more than 300 years, America has served as a beacon for people looking for the chance to make better lives for themselves, reunite with their loved ones or find a haven from religious or political persecution," said AILA President Jack Pinnix. "We are the world's most successful nation because we are a nation of immigrants. During this time when immigrants are coming under tremendous scrutiny, Immigration Works! It's Who We Are will remind people that new Americans, as they have since this nation was born, bring new ideas and skills that add to our national security and aid in our economic growth." The launch of Immigration Works! It's Who We Are coincided with the American Immigration Lawyers Association's Lobby Day. AILA members and supporters from all over the country headed to Capitol Hill to speak with their Senators and Representatives about the unprecedented changes taking place in Washington that directly impact immigration laws, policies and regulations.
