The ILW.COM Editor's assumption about Democrats being dissatisfied with the current level of immigration, and interpreting that as meaning they want more immigration is a real stretch.
I am a lifelong Democrat, as is my family. I am strongly opposed to higher levels of immigration, and in fact would like to see it reduced. The rest of my family (which includes several Hispanic steps and in-laws) has never expressed any opinion on immigration at all.
Furthermore, before one interprets the results of "satisfaction with the current level" of immigration it is important to ask whether or not the respondent actually knows what the current level of immigration is, a point raised by one of my former professors at the University of Michigan who works with both Gallup and Pew on political polling.
