APPLICATIONS FOR IMMIGRATION BENEFITS

Data Source: PAS G-22.2

1 Receipts and Pending do not reflect an estimated 13,794 I-485s filed but not data entered.

  • The INS conducted a labor-intensive audit during the first two weeks of October, which reduced the amount of time available to process applications. The rebound in November receipts reflects a post-audit resumption of application processing for cases that had been received in the mail, but not entered into the INS case tracking system.
  • Total immigration application pending cases reached 4,114,677, a 36 percent increase when compared to November 2000.
  • Major volumes in November 2001 receipts include: 177,463 I-765 employment authorizations; 114,983 I-90 Green Card renewals/replacements; 71,355 I-130 relative petitions; and 67,572 I-485 permanent resident adjustments.
  • Major volumes of pending cases at the end of November 2001 include: 1,655,904 I-130 relative petitions; 950,481 I-485 permanent resident adjustments; 288,261 I-90 Green Card renewals/replacements; and 233,281 I-765 employment authorizations.
