Dear Editor:

I read with much interest the letter from AK dated March 16, 2001, in the ILW.COM Daily Newsletter of March 19, 2001. If this person only knew . . . they should have to deal with the Texas Service Center!!!! My daughter filed an I-130 for her husband in May 2000. His receipt is dated June 2, 2000. It is now almost one year later and we have heard NOTHING!!!! You can not get through on the phone and they do not answer your FAXes. We are not getting our hopes up about a K-3 visa - they have to be processed by the same snail-slow system. In our day and time of the information super-highway, it is totally absurd how antiquated the system is at the INS. We were also told by our local lawmakers NOT to file consular (they were married in Honduras) because of the time delays. Little did we know. . . governmental red tape far surpasses slow consular filing. It is totally ridiculous that spouses have to live apart for that length of time. Correct me if I'm wrong - people get married to be together.

I'm sorry if I sound angry. I am and all of us who are captive to this "system of separation" should be. We are not the only family who suffers at the hands of the INS. I have written the President, Vice President, Attorney General, Congressmen, Senators, Representatives - you name it - even the DOJ and the Director of the INS in Mesquite, Texas. Is there no one out there who is willing to take on this governmental Godzilla? We thought the IRS was a governmental entity unto itself!!! I think they have outdone themselves this time!
