Processing Times

Dear Sir/Madam:

The processing of I-140 petitions at Nebraska Service Center (NSC) seems to be becoming ever more unpredictable. While the official processing time is at 300 to 315 days, cases that were submitted as recent as May 2000, are processed (often times being approved), while some of us who submitted our petitions (EB1-OR) a while back (almost 300 days), are still waiting to hear a word from NSC.

Could you kindly demystify the confusion surrounding the official time line for processing I-140s and the actual flurry of approval activity that we are seeing of late.

Under these conditions, should I just assume that my application is still being examined or is it just accumulating dust in Lincoln, Nebraska, or perhaps even be afraid that it may have been lost.

Thank you very much for your thoughts on this issue.

Prasad Rangaraju
