Comment: Largest ICE Raid - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials announced yesterday that the agency had arrested more than 3,000 people living illegally in the U.S., primarily ones with criminal convictions. It was the largest such effort in the agency's history and will surely spark continued debate over the Obama administration's deportation policies. The six-day operation, called "Cross Check," resulted in 3,168 arrests spread among all 50 states and three territories. Those arrested will return to 116 countries, though the vast majority are from Mexico and Central America. The current administration has been the subject of round criticism on both sides of the political spectrum for its attempts at controlling illegal immigration. President Obama has overseen the deportation of about 1 million people in the last three years, a record-setting pace. Some would argue these policies call into question the veracity of the pro-immigration sentiments the President expressed during his most recent State of the Union Address. Please send comments to
