Comment: Migrating Religions - The Wall Street Journal reports on a comprehensive report on religion and migration by Pew Research Center which looked at the religious affiliations of world's 214 million migrants. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Quarter of all Jews live in a country other than the one they were born in. Most of the 3.6 million Jewish immigrants, who include Holocaust survivors and Jews forced out of the Continent, left Europe, and 2.8 million of those ended up in Israel.
  • Christians, who make up 33% of the global population, account for nearly half of the world's 214 million immigrants.
  • Muslims are the second-largest group of migrants, making up 60 million, or 27%, of the world's immigrants.
  • The US is the top destination for the world's migrating Christians and Buddhists, as well as those with no particular religious affiliation, including atheists and agnostics.
