H1B For Playboy Model

The Miami Herald reports that a former Playmate model seeks re-entry to the US after being removed from the US for overstaying her visa. Her immigration attorney is reportedly petitioning to obtain an H-1B visa for her under the provision in the statute at 101(a)(H)(i)(b) for fashion models of "distinguished merit and ability". While all other occupations require a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience under the statutory provisions at 214(i)(1) and (2) a fashion model does not need a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Why not have similiar provisions for occupations other than fashion model for those possessing "distinguished merit and ability" regardless of the attainment of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Dear Editor:
Upon reading Mr. Murray's letter (02/08/06 ID), I was amazed and saddened that a letter from an officer of the court would give such a pathetic excuse to justify breaking the law. "And if I wanted to hire someone for $10 an hour to help me move, or to clean the brush out of my back yard, where else but the readily available illegal labor pool can I go to find a worker ready, willing and able to work on a moment's notice -". First, one must change one's thinking from "should" be followed to "must be followed"(or changed through the proper process). Are immigration laws just guideliness that are not mandatory? Second, if one really want to hire someone to help one move or clear brush, there is a place called "the unemployment office". There one will find American citizens, or legal aliens who are ready willing and able to work at a moment's notice.
