Jorge Gutierrrez is a sophomore on the Univresity of California basketball team. The first recruit signed by then-new head coach Mike Montgomery at Cal, Gutierrez is a versatile guard who can play several positions on the court.  A scrappy player known for tough defense and diving after loose balls, Gutierrez has proven to be an invaluable reserve coming off the bench and is one of the players hoping to lead Cal to its first Pacific 10 championshiop in 50 years.  In 2008-09, Gutierrez, who led the team with 27 steals, was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year last season.

Jorge Ivan Gutierrez was born December 27, 1988 in Chihuahua, Mexico.  Drawing is one of his hobbies.
